Flash is a popular authoring software developed by Macromedia (now Adobe), it is used to create vector graphics-based animation programs with full-screen navigation interfaces, graphic illustrations, and simple interactivity in an antialiased, realisable file format that is small enough to stream across a normal modem connection. Flash is the professional standard authoring tool for producing high-impact Web experiences. Whether you are creating animated logos, web site navigation controls (buttons, menus etc.), long-form animations, entire Flash website's, or web applications, you'll find the power and flexibility of Flash ideal for your own creativity. Flash comes in SWF ( Shockwave Flash file) format and can easily be inserted into your web authoring tool (Dreamweaver, FrontPage etc.). To get FREE flash buttons and menus visit Flash Vortex and Flash Buttons.

STEP 1:
There are several different ways to insert Flash into your web page. For this example we are going to use the Flash Vortex online generator, with this generator you simply create your Menu, Buttons and then embed the link into the <BODY> tag of your web page. You will not need to download any SWF (Flash) files, as the Flash is stored on Flash Vortex's server, the good side to this method is that is simple to do and can be added to web authoring tools that don't support Flash, the only bad side could be if the Flash Vortex server is down then your Flash will not view. If you would like to download and embed the SWF (Flash) code yourself then view Tutorial#2. Firstly go to the Flash Vortex website, just click here. With the Menus Tab selected, choose a Menu (for this one I have used Universe), select the text link - CLICK HERE TO EDIT THIS.

Insert your required button text and address's (or us the following text) as shown below:

Change the Background colour to white or the background of your web page:

Select the Generate Animation button.

The "Choose your Installation" window will open. For this example I used the Easy installation option, as some Web Authoring Tools do not support Flash embedded in them. Copy the code in the Easy box.

Paste the code into the <BODY> tag of your web page.

Save and view your web page in your browser.
IF you get an Adobe Flash Player Security message appear, this is just because you are viewing it on your machine, this will not happen after you upload the web page to your webspace.
