Now select the OK button.

Scroll down the Favorites list until you get to Free Gear Design - Home Page (FGD) the new icon is now displayed this image has replaced the Internet Explorer icon.

If you have any problems viewing the icon refresh the page by selecting the Refresh option on the Navigation Toolbar or press the F5 button on the keyboard and add the page to your Favorites again. In Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox when you open a new Tab the icon will also show, making it easier for visitors to find the site if they have several Tabs open at once.

STEP 3:

There are several different ways to create your own icon, you can use a graphics editor to create an image (must be 16x16 pixies in size) to get a FREE graphics editor click here, you can get a selection of FREE icon's at Freeiconsweb (you need to save the file with the ico extension, example car.ico), alternatively if you already have an image (JPEG, GIF, BMP etc.) you can change the file extension by using the Favicon system, you simply upload your image and convert it to the ICO format.

Browser icons are 16x16 pixel's in size so when considering an icon take these small dimensions into account. You can get an additional animated ICO image with the Favicon system this will work in the Firefox browser but may not in Internet Explorer.

STEP 5:

Now paste the code into the top of the <HEAD> tag in your web page.

You will need to change the web address (www.yourwebsite.com) to your address and the icon (logo.ico) to your icon name if different. You only need to upload one icon to the root directory (www.yourwebsite.com) and then just add the code into different pages on your site.
