About SEO

SEO (Search Engine Optimization), is the development of increasing the visibility of a web site or a web page in search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo et...) via organic (un-paid) and paid services search results. Our SEO package will help budding entrepreneurs have a stronger web presence (website), and help to drive their desired traffic (hits) to their sites.

Organic SEO

Organic SEO falls under white hat (accepted) SEO development strategy under the Google guidelines. Basically organic SEO is unpaid, algorithm-driven, natural (adding to search engines, keywords, title tags etc...) results of a search engine. This particular SEO strategy, although white hat can unfortunately take a long period of time to filter through search engine and improve your page ranking statistics.

Paid SEO

All major search engines (Google, Bing and Yahoo etc...) offer a paid listings service, generally known as pay-per-click (PPC). These services generally work on the principle that you bid for the keywords (search term) you want to appear and the relevant page will show your add. Basically the more you pay for each keyword the more chance you have of getting on the first page. This method can be costly but may be advantages if your offing a niche service as there will be less competition. Unlike some paid services (link farms, link exchange) pay-per click services will not affect your page rank (PR).

White Hat

White hat SEO tactics are deemed as acceptable tactics for enhancing your website page ranking. White hat tactics include making your site easily accessible by visitors, good navigational and internal search structure, good quality content , unique (the more unique the better) content, fresh content and good quality backlinks to your web site.

Black Hat

It is advisable to avoid so called black hat tactics in you SEO marketing strategy. This mainly includes Spamdexing (also known as search spam, search engine spam or web spam, doorway pages). Spamdexing includes tactics such as repeating unrelated phrases, to manipulate the relevancy or prominence of resources indexed by a search engine. Some SEO companies consider Spamdexing to be a part of SEO, this is not advisable as most search engines determining whether the search term appears in the META keywords tag, body text or URL of the web page. Sites thought to be Spamdexing will be removed from search indexes. So overall Do Not Spam Sites!

Google Page Rank

Google's page rank is used to calculate (using it's algorithms) the relevance of a websites importance, via the quality of sites linking to it. Page rank ranges from 1-10 the higher the number the more valued the site is valued by Google. Google's page ranking is updating constantly but the actual Google page rank tool bar only visually updates roughly every quarter, the last update was at the beginning of August 2010, the next will be around late December 2010.

Backlinks

Backlinks are a major part of SEO and page ranking, getting quality backlinks is a must when trying to obtain better PR (page ranking) and click-thought's (hits) to your website. Many businesses make the common mistake of more is better when it comes to backlinks but One Good Page Ranked Site = Twenty Bad Page Ranked Sites. It is fair to say that low quality backlinks will ultimately lower or hinder your sites overall page ranking. With this in mind it is advisable not to join link farms and reciprocal link exchange programs. Backlinks that are one way links are even more valued as you haven't added internal (outgoing) links to your site.

Outgoing Links

Make sure your outgoing links (links to other sites) are to reputable sites and preferably are similar in nature in subject to yours. As you have control of what external links are on your site, Google and Yahoo (Bing holds less weight to outgoing links) sees these as an important method of calculating your websites page ranking.

Create Unique Content

Content is king when increasing your websites page ranking. A high percentage of sites copy (poach) other sites content this is big NO when it comes to search engines. Search engines scan and check when and what site content was published first, so poaching other sites information will be documented and may lower your sites overall page ranking.

Do-Follow Vs. No-Follow

Websites can set their HTML (website code), so external links will not be indexed by search engines, therefore not increasing your page ranking, this HTML attribute is called No-Follow. The opposite of this is Do-follow, which allows you to add your link to a reputable high ranking site, therefore your site's page ranking will viewed in a positive way by search engines.

Don't Believe the Hype

The internet is jam packed with companies saying they can get you on the first page of Google. This is a myth as Google's algorithm (page ranking calculator) process is only partly understood:

Example:

Time On Web + Incoming Links + Out Going Links + Content = Page Ranking

So it's virtually impossible for these SEO providers to definitely get you that top spot, for your desired keywords.

Keywords

Make sure you're your keywords are relevant to your sites content and reflect your required search terms that are aimed at your potential customers. Add Page Titles

It is vital that you add page titles to all your web pages as viewing a web page that says untilled gives the impression of a non professional nature.

Anchor Text

Anchor text is the hyperlinked text on a web page (the text you click on when you click a link). Many websites make the common mistake of using the standard text "Click here", when linking to other pages, by entering relevant text (Anchor Text) to the page you're linking to can help increase your websites page ranking.

Examples:

This Home Study Courses link goes to a website page relating to "Home Study Courses".

This ECDL link goes to a website page relating to "ECDL".

Anchor text also gives your visitors useful information about the content of the page you're linking to. Anchor text is very important as it instructs search engines what the linked page is about, this is especially relevant to Google's search engine.
